    MIRIAM LÓPEZ joined the firm in 1987 and became a partner in 1992.  Ms. López practices in all areas of labor law and ERISA and represents exclusively labor organizations and multi-employer trust funds.  She counsels clients in the negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements and other contracts, collection of monetary obligations owed under such agreements, and the development of union policies pertaining to a variety of areas, including the use of the internet and e-mail within the union workplace

    Ms. López also has particular expertise in securing performance of collective bargaining obligations through securitization vehicles such as copyright mortgages and financing statements.  She counsels labor organizations and trust funds on the perfection and enforcement of security interests in motion picture collateral for the purpose of ensuring performance of monetary and other obligations due under collective bargaining agreements, including payment of residuals and pension and health contributions, and has been directly involved in hundreds of complex motion picture financing transactions representing the interests of entertainment guilds.

    Ms. López also advises clients on legislative matters in the area of copyright and Article 9 of the Commercial Code.  She speaks and writes on issues pertaining to labor unions, conducts training seminars, and has authored numerous training manuals including detailed guides on perfecting security interests domestically and internationally, and enforcing secured party rights in motion picture collateral.  She is also a chapter editor for the American Bar Association's Employee Benefits Law Treatise.

    She is a member of the American Bar Association Labor, Employee Benefits, and Intellectual Property Sections, Los Angeles County Bar Association, Financial Lawyers Conference, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and a member of the Board of the AFL-CIO Lawyer’s Coordinating Committee.
